EMDR Multi-Day Intensives:
Life is stressful, finding time to heal shouldn’t be.
Quick, effective treatment for addressing mental health concerns.
Experience accelerated EMDR therapy for quicker relief, without the need to revisit every single thing you’ve been avoiding. Unlike traditional methods that can take months or years, EMDR intensive sessions condense progress into an immersive three-day experience, enabling faster, deeper breakthroughs.
If you’ve tried therapy before but didn’t see the results you were hoping for, EMDR intensives offer a more efficient alternative. You’ll also gain coping tools to help manage emotions and stay in control, ensuring a smoother process—many of which you won’t need anymore once we’ve healed your triggers.
WHY I OFFER INTENSIVES
Shifting exclusively to EMDR, I saw a clear difference in the effectiveness of weekly versus intensive sessions. Weekly sessions often had setbacks—life would get in the way, and progress would slow down. As well, emotional recovery after each session could take days, causing disruption in clients’ lives week after week. While some recovery is necessary, the intensive approach I adhere to minimizes these after effects, creating a faster, more balanced healing experience.
Intensive sessions offer the space and focus for deep healing, accelerating progress. What typically takes months of weekly sessions can be accomplished in just three weeks with a focused approach.
WHY WEEKLY EMDR SESSIONS CAN BE LESS IDEAL?
Sickness, vacations, deadlines, and other disruptions can slow or stall the EMDR process.
The emotional recovery after each session can be disruptive week after week.
Processing becomes less efficient as momentum is lost and needs to be regained each week.
Unforeseen life circumstances may force the premature discontinuation of treatment.
WHY DO EMDR INTENSIVE SESSIONS?
You don’t want life to get in the way of your healing.
You want to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for a big life event.
You have a significant issue you want to address that you’d prefer to resolve quickly.
Your schedule does not allow for consistent weekly/biweekly therapy.

FAQs:
What others have wondered about intensive EMDR sessions
-
Intensives are periods of concentrated treatment, typically spanning part of a day and over several days. Unlike weekly therapy, which is limited to a 50- or 75-minute sessions, intensives offer the opportunity to go deeper into the issue, addressing the root cause more efficiently.
-
Intensive EMDR sessions can be highly effective for those who are ready to explore how their past has shaped their life. They tend to work best if you’ve done some preparatory work or have previous therapy experience, as the sessions require a certain level of readiness and emotional resilience. However, they may not be the right fit if you’re currently in crisis, experiencing severe dissociation, or managing complex mental health issues. In those cases, a more gradual approach might be better. Ultimately, the suitability of intensive EMDR depends on your unique needs and emotional state. During our initial consultation, I’ll carefully assess what approach is the best fit for you.
-
Intensive EMDR sessions may seem long at first, but they rarely feel like 4 hours. The process keeps your brain actively engaged, making time pass quickly. As the session unfolds, you’ll likely feel lighter, though perhaps a bit tired, as old memories and limiting beliefs are released.
The first hour may feel intense as your system begins to relax into the process, but once we begin processing, the intensity usually fades. Remember, you've already lived through these memories, so brief moments of discomfort are completely manageable—and after they're processed, you won’t need to revisit them unless you choose to. If anxiety arises, we'll address it right away and move forward only when you're ready. You’re in control of the pace, and you'll be amazed at how quickly you start seeing real progress.
-
The intensive application of EMDR has shown to be well tolerated by clients, promoting faster symptom reduction and yielding similar or even better outcomes. It also helps reduce the likelihood of patients prematurely discontinuing treatment.
Research supports that, when compared to other trauma therapies, the intensive format can reduce treatment time. This is due to less time spent on:
a) Life updates,
b) Addressing current crises,
c) Focusing on stabilization and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or
d) Helping the client regain composure at the end of each session.Intensive trauma therapy not only proves effective but also offers an economically valuable approach to addressing the root of trauma.
-
Absolutely. Intensives can be a powerful way to get "unstuck" and accelerate progress alongside your traditional weekly therapy. If you'd like, we can coordinate care with your current therapist to ensure a seamless continuation of your healing journey.
-
Your results will depend on the extent of your trauma history or the issue you're addressing. However, the intensive package is designed to provide you with the skills needed to maximize our work together. This allows us to go deep during our intensive days, creating space for meaningful, lasting changes.
While I cannot guarantee that all your symptoms will be resolved, you will experience accelerated healing and significant, lasting changes. It truly will be a transformative experience!
-
I understand that the investment in an intensive package may feel like a significant cost, but in the long run, it usually is more cost-effective than traditional weekly therapy. In a standard therapy session, we usually only have 75 minutes to check in, begin EMDR processing, utilize coping skills to contain the work, and wrap up the session.
This means the processing phase must compete with the other aspects of the session. However, in the intensive format, we have a dedicated 4-hour block of time to focus entirely on your concerns. Instead of waiting months to see progress, you can experience the same results in just a few days.
-
You just need to be in the province of BC in order for me to work with you. If you are out of province, you can travel to BC for the Intensive. Some people like traveling for the Intensive as it adds to the experience of having a get-away to purely focus on healing and growth.
-
We'll begin with a 50-minute virtual, initial session, to give us time to dive into your goals and see if we're a good fit. When you're ready to move forward, we will schedule all your sessions at once for convenience.
